The Final Count Down

Dear Family….How are you doing?

This week was pretty cool.

…..We are teaching super cute little 9 year old name Jillian!
Her mom and brother are so cute, and I am seriously going to be friends with them forever.

J, is really progressing super well, he is going to be baptized this week!
It has really been a miracle to see the grace of God.
Its amazing to see people change, and to become close to God.

I think that over the course of my mission, I have really come to love potential.
I love meeting people and just looking at their potential. He/she has the potential of living with God, he/she can be baptized and repent. They can be cleaned through the grace and merits of God.

I know that forgiveness is possible through Jesus Christ, I know that being unified is truly possible.
I am going to miss sharing the gospel everyday as a full time missionary.
But I will never stop sharing it.

Through all of the trials I have had on mission, I have learned how to fully rely on the Lord. I love him so much.

I’m terrified to come home…but I guess it’s a new opportunity for me to progress.
I’m going to be super awkward, and i’m going to rock it.

I am grateful for the plan of salvation.

❤ Sister Lyman

This week…..
SO where to start.

lets start by saying that I love cats….but I got a pretty good cat scratch to the face….so I haven’t held a cat for the past 12 hours….that’s a record.

Also, Jorge is doing super well. we fasted with him yesterday, and he will see what happens with his baptism date.
They sang a song about going home in church yesterday and my dear sister ahchong started to cry… then I looked at her, and it hit me that I only have 2 Sundays left….what…

We had exchanges this week and we went to this really yummy sushi place…and They had Mochi! that really yummy ice cream thing…so that’s all I got. and like 2 things of sushi. yummy.

It was interesting to sit with this dear sister, who I was on exchanges with, and hear her going through all of these things, and then I would tell her stories of when I went through something similar. It was crazy to hear myself, and how I’ve made it so far.

This week, we found a new investigator…his name is Meyoshi A…..we met up with him at a restaurant…he explained that he met his wife at a club, and then she got pregnant, so they were just recently married.
He said, he didn’t really want the baby….it just happened. It made me sad to hear that. But it was a good lesson….until 2 hours later, when we received a text from him…inviting us to go to downtown Seattle and go “clubbin” with him….ummm…
noooo thankkk you…

We had so much fun with our friend Kayla this week! she invited us over to a cute fire she was having, we took our investigator Jorge, and we all have great fun!

Anywho…Im doing so good.
I may or may not have gotten a ticket this week…by photo.
wasnt my fault.
we will see….love me still?

❤ Sister Lyman!!

Week 1,236,846

Hello my dearest people!

So….this week was awesome!

I worked on my exit essays like crazy, actually, it’s pretty cool to see subtle changes that will impact me forever.

Also….we started packing. yes. I am such a pro at throwing things away. Be proud. Be proud. The other day we were at a Less Actives home and just because we are so used to cleaning, Sister Ah Chong and I just started picking things up….then she gave us a weird look…and we put everything back down.

we have to clean our apartment so it can basically be closed down 😦

but I have a very exciting announcement to make……

DALLIN H. OAKS is coming to our mission! And what makes it better, is that he is coming before I go home….yes!

Also, Jorge is doing so well! He is progressing so well. He is reading and praying. Even though he is going through a divorce. He told us this week that his soon to be ex-wife is wanting to take his 3 boys to Virginia with her new boyfriend 😦
I’ve never really seen him get emotional before.
But he had his kids this weekend and he brought them to church, and they did really well, they made it through sacrament meeting…but that was it. but ya gotta start somewhere right.

Last night, we had our last CSFY Mission Fireside. We brought 2 investigators. It was so good, I was able to see some of my old companions and people I love.
It is making me sad that I am doing all of these things for the “last time” as a missionary. But our WML pointed out a good point. That when you go home you grow so much because you have the choice to live the principles and commandments you’ve learned on your mission. And i’m really excited for that.

Anywho…..I love being a missionary.
I love benadryl and I love Lynnwood!

love you all!

Lynnwood Week 8

Dear….dear ones,

This week. awesome.

Jorge is doing great, he is going to be baptized on March 28th. He is really soaking up the lessons and gospel like a sponge. I love it!
Sometimes we have to go through hardships to find God, and that’s what Jorge is going through.
He came to church yesterday, his first sacrament meeting ever. He even went to the store this week to buy a “church shirt.”
We met him after church, when he got out of Priesthood and I asked him how he like church and he said that he know’s this is right…
Heavenly Father has sooooo blessed us!

Anywhoo…..great news. I’m dying here in Lynnwood. Awesome. I love this place.
oh and what else happened….WE GOT A CAR….
so we get to bike and drive now 🙂
I think we begged really hard and they had pity on us.
I’m cool with that.

Also this week…..I received my Exit Essays in the mail 😦 Due march 18th…man…
it made everything real…..

So as I’ve been writing my essays I’ve really had an opportunity to reflect on my mission and what the Lord taught me, and why he taught me what he did….
I think that just as christ, we all are given opportunities to learn how to fully rely on Christ. Especially in those moments when you feel broken and sad. Or happy and Joyful.
Who said you can’t rely on Christ when your happy? He wants us to always have him near 🙂
If you look at the life of Christ…he always helped everyone. He healed the sick and gave sight to the blind. He never overlooked anyone in need 🙂 he was the greatest missionary ever. I hope to one day,
be just like him.

My last Transfer…Hermana Brusndale and I!

My Last 42 days…….

yay!! I am so happy!

So this week….

We have a really cool new Investigator…his name is Jorge.
He is going through a really bad divorce…he was sitting on his couch and he was crying..then he looked up to the sky and he said “what am I suppose to do now?” then the name Colton popped into his head…he heard “call colton.”
Colton is his member friend.
So, he called Colton….and colton asked Jorge if he was ready to receive the missionaries. and Jorge said “yes…i’m ready…”

It was a pretty powerful story and Jorge is a very nice guy.

I also Finished my root canal this week. I got pain pills this time and I felt soooo funny. But they worked reallllyy well.

Then we had to say goodbye to some of my loved missionaries…as they flew home this morning. i am now one of the oldest sisters in the mission…scarryyy.

only 42 more days to dedicate my time to the Lord.
ah chong…me …and connor!

Hi Friends,

Guess what.
I hate going to the dentists. because then they poke you with needles and put numbing stuff in your face.

Root Canal.

But valentines day was awesome!

Our investigator Tony, took us to his favorite place…..Mcdonalds haha.
Best meal ever.

Poor Tony, He is so awesome, Him and his girlfriends just broke up and they can’t talk to each other because of a police order, so we have been trying to cheer him up. But he keeps drinking his sorrows away and it’s so sad to see.

we have these “pet” (not really pet squirrels because that’s against the rules) that we feed every morning, they are so cute…..we named them squirrel. I asked Tony if he wanted to see a picture of our pet squirrels and he said “nah man….I don’t like dem squirrels…one of dem tried to bite me when I was little…tryin’ to feed it..”

So Tony doesn’t like our pets…but i like them..i even took pictures of them for you this week.

So Sister Ah Chong experienced her 1st migraine this week( that lasted 4 days 😦 ), she woke up really early and I went to see if she was okay and she was crying because her head hurt so bad.
President Bonham came over and brought her different pills because he’s the migraine expert, and she slept most of the morning, so we missed zone meeting and then we left at 10 so we could make it to the dentist at 11:50. No one would give us a ride so we took the bus a couple miles and biked the rest of the way.

Then after my root canal I was in no shape to bike again….and noo ne would come get us, so the AP’s found us a ride.
Then because the densitst wouldn’t give me pain pills, I bought really strong pain pills and some gum numbing stuff…that really numbed me up and I slept a lot.

We were able to meet really cool people this week, even though we were down a lot. I am flabbergasted that I only have 40 something days left.
I know that as we nurture our faith a little bit day by day and apply the gospel principles…we will find happiness!!

I love being happy! do you like being happy!

oh hey….we had cleaning checks this week….and we got 2 rolls of Toilet paper…2ply..yup.

before root canal

after root canal

Valentines Day

rain and crashes

So this week was a pretty crazy week.

we have had such beautiful weather until……this dreadful week.

Monday was a good day…ya know the usual Pday…except last p-day I actually was able to TAKE A NAP……yes. it’s exactly what is sounds like.1B6.gif

Then…..Tuesday….we were biking down a pretty big hill. It was really rainy that day, so we borrowed a members dryer so that we could be dry for the rest of the day. We were just leaving their house and as we were biking down 200th…I was in front of S. Ah Chong. Mind you it was a red light so there were a billion cars in line.
Because they don’t change mission bike tires that often and the road was really wet/rainy my tires slipped and I took a fun skid down the road. The next thing I know is my bike is all messed up and everyone in their car is just looking at me, even the weird asian kids across the street(asians are taking over the world). Sister Ah Chong starts laughing and we walk across the street and we die laughing. Then I realized I hurt and then I realized I was bleeding…the first discovery was my poor knee….then the other knee….then my ankle…then my helmet…
no biggie. it was a fun experience. I know everyone in the bike department at Sports Authority by name…..Ayla is my favorite. She fixed my bike up enough to get it home. We had dinner in like 30 minutes so I bought some new leggings and socks and we biked super fast to dinner. I hated that bike.

Then we had a great Wednesday volunteering at the Food Bank. Then that night we went to dinner……and the woman was a hoarder….literally. I was kind of scared to eat her food….I felt something weird on the chair and I looked to see what I was sitting on…..POOP. literally…
The things we do.

But any who….
I got a BEAUTIFUL new helmet!!
and…….*drum roll* A NEW BIKE!

story of the new bike:
the elders came over and put some new tread on our bikes….so basically new tires with traction. because they “think” they know how to right…
But one thing they forgot to do….was pump up the tires…so we bike down by the mall to have lunch with other sisters at panera bread…and we were biking on flat tires….
then as we bike up this huge hill…it was raining cats and dogs and my chain snaps and my gears go crazy…
I prayed….heavenly father…please bless that theres a bike store near….
then at the top of the hill THERE WAS A BIKE STORE.
I walked in and said….
” Hi, can you help me fix my bike. i hate this bike. can you fix it and then help me buy a new one….”

So we found a good one and they helped me get it all set up. yay!!

Then the next day….sister ah chongs bike broke….we can’t catch a break.
So we took my old bike all apart and we put new tires on sister Ah Chongs bike again….it was sure an experiment. but we did it!

Anywhooo…..we did something wrong. So its actually getting fixed for real haha.

Hey family guess what….
I have a toothache..

Dentist Appointment tomorrow at 3:20 sharp.
bleh. I asked if I could have Sister Ah Chong pull it out or something and They said no.

our mail box has been really empty….
maybe you lost my address…….

1. my cool new bike

SAM_2096 parts err’ywhere

3.Sister Ahchong…bike master

4. ouch.

Hi Friends!

Where to start…….where to end?

Okay… So monday…

I cut my finger, REALLY bad.
Some stupid metal hanger…..It wouldn’t stop bleeding so I called our doctor and told him that I cut my finger and that I had some super glue…I asked if I could just superglue it and Dr. Tate said no. soo…blah bleu..I could’ve gotten stitches, but it was like 7pm and I didn’t have time for it. So i called some people and they took us to Fred Meyers and i bought bandaids and Gauze and I called it good.

Then on Tuesday I had my LAST ZONE CONFERENCE!
As I sat and listened….I was looking at all of the younger missionaries answer all of these questions and how they were so energetic, and I thought to myself….”man, i remember when I had that much energy and I answered questions…I AM SOOOOOO TIRED..”
So at the end of Zone Conference they have all of the departing missionaries give their testimonies. They read a list of all of the missionaries that will bare their testimonies and I was called. It was so weird to give a 2 minute testimony based on my entire mission….It really made me think about the lessons I have been able to learn.
I have really learned that I have gained a strong testimony of going forward with a spirit of dedicated service, putting myself in the hands of the Lord….to do this, his great work. How great is it that we believe in revelation and in a God that is loving!

Then on Wednesday I went to the Chiropractor and he was a whole lot nicer to my poor body and then I laid on ice for a while and it was awesome….Then I went up to Everrett to meet with President Duce, the 1st councilor in the mission presidency. He was going to notarize a paper for me…then he looked it over and ended up calling dad because he said I deserved more….anywho….it’s great to have a lawyer as a mission president as well as all of his councilors….the Lord really loves his missionaries 🙂
Then that night we met a super sweet woman tracking…her name is Leslie and she has 2 kiddos….She things she was baptized when she was 10 but doesn’t really know. But we have starting meeting with her and her 2 kiddos. They are really interested in the Book of Mormon! Super!

Then on Thursday…..we woke up early to run and then….7am. the phone rings.
our Recent convert and his brother were kicked out of their house and had slept outside at the bus station all night (FREEEEEZGING). They were praying about who to call and they found a card with our na,e and number. So they waited until 7am to call us.
So we went as fast as we could to the bus station and met them….they hadn’t had any food or drink for a day so I said ” lets take you to Mcdonalds..” partially because it was closer than anywhere else. So I bought them Breakfast and hot chocolate….then we waited for the library to open and we took them there.
We looked for a shelter or for anything to help them.
All of the brethren were at work or didn’t answer….We finally got ahold of our Bishop and he said he could meet at 7pm. So we left them at the Library and Sister Ah Chong and went to Jack in the Box and ate and slept in the booth haha. We were Sooo tired.
Then we did some work and met them at the church at 7. Bishop said he’d take care of it….but I felt so bad…I felt like there had to be something that we could do to help. But I knew that the Bishop held the keys to help these boys and so we left with a prayer in our heart. It was so hard to see yet again…another family broken. My mind was lead back to Alma 14…when the believers were cast into the fire because they wouldn’t deny the Christ. Sometimes bad things happen, we can’t always control the trials we receive, but we can control how we react.

Then on Friday we got a weird phone call from this guy we didn’t know and it was someone looking for the boys we had helped the previous day….we called bishop to ask about them and he had found them a home!!! MIRACLE!
We then went to contact a potential named Patrice….he answered the door and he was soooooo drunk. He couldn’t even stand up straight….it made me really sad to see that. So we left.

Then on Saturday we had an activity called MACHO CHEF…it’s where all of the men in the ward bring their most valued plate of food and the ward votes on who is the “Macho Chef…” It was so much fun!
I have never seen so much food….or seahawks crazed fans hahaha….

I hate this bike…..I just need to buy my own. seriously.

anywho…..we were waiting for a ride because i had to take my bike to sports authority.

Soo….you know how apartments have heat and fire detectors?

well in the hallways in our apartment building….the thing was beeping like it had a low battery.
And we could not sleep…it was SO loud…So we decided that we would just ya know….take out the batteries.
So we find a tall chair and sister ah chong stands on the chair (because she’s taller than me) and starts to twist it….
Little did we know that we set off the tamper alam and THE WHOLE BUILDING STARTS BEEPING.
yeah. we set off the alarm for the entire apartment complex. So we run back inside out apartment and take out the batteries to everything that has batteries…
and pretty soon we heard everyone running down the stairs….
SO we run outside….
the fire department shows up….

they called it….a ” system malfunction”
SO we didn’t get in trouble.

whew……we didn’t get much sleep.

My finger is find.
we are safe…no fire.
everyone has a home.
my bike is broken.

❤ me!

p.s. ……having a samoan comp….= FOOOD!b
riding the bus for days…….

Hi Friends

Hi Friends,

Week 2 of everything breaking.

This week my bike was FINALLY FIXED. Then they told me that my gears wouldn’t shift past 3rd gear….that’s a problem. But they said that I had to pay more money to fix it….I said no. So I let the Elders try to fix it…..

I should’ve paid the extra money.
I got my bike back from the Elders with parts and bolts that weren’t there before.

So we had one smooth day with our bikes…
Then Sister Ah Chong went down a hill thing and her bike made a really weird noise and her tire wouldn’t even spin….so we drug her bike as far as the church and then bam…..her basket in front of her bike just…fell off. we were laughing so hard. We were so tired and hungry. So we left our sad bikes at the church and ate at chipolte. Ya do whatcha gotta do….ya know.

We have dropping a million of our investigators…but thats okay…separation of the wheat and tares right. It’s so weird because I’m still so happy. The Lord sends us his prepared children in the midst of everything.

I went to the Chiropractor…..I died. I thought he was trying to kill me..
He was tellign me how he doesn’t approve of what the Bonhams do and blah bleh blah and so he took his anger out on my poor body. So I bought some Ice packs and I’ve been wakling around like a 99 year old. Sister Ah Chong always laughs.

Hopefully I get a mattress this week so I can stop sleeping on the floor.

Anywho. I’m great.
Love you all…lets be friends forever okay. k.
